Giving Societies

Wisconsin Lutheran College has established several giving societies to recognize and encourage alumni, friends, and organizations whose faithful donations play a critical role in sustaining our mission, and in preparing future Christian leaders. These societies are described below. To learn more about any of them, please contact Donor Services at 414.443.8823 or by email.

The Servant Leader Society is a giving society that recognizes the generous donations of those who have given $1,000 or more to Wisconsin Lutheran College during the course of the college's fiscal year. We've named our giving society the Servant Leader Society for one very simple reason: Every gift helps us carry out our ministry of preparing servant leaders to impact the world for Jesus' sake.

In honor of their support of Wisconsin Lutheran College, Servant Leader Society members receive the following benefits:

  • Recognition on a campus display
  • Recognition in the WLC Annual Report
  • Invitation to a special donor recognition annual event
  • Annual WLC wall calendar

The WLC fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following calendar year. Society membership is based on the total of gifts received between these dates annually. Gifts from matching gift organizations are counted in the total.

In 1973, a handful of dedicated Christian leaders gathered to organize a new Christ-centered liberal arts college. Wisconsin Lutheran College began as a dream with no facilities and no full-time faculty. But what our founders did have was a strong faith in God and a determination to make it happen. This faith and determination turned WLC from a dream to a reality. But it also took friends who were willing to commit significant financial resources in addition to their gifts of time, talents, and prayers. To commemorate and celebrate the treasures - past, present, and future - that God's people generously give to Wisconsin Lutheran College, we have created the 1973 Society.

Established in 2014, the 1973 Society exists to thank and celebrate the individuals and organizations who have generously supported Wisconsin Lutheran College with lifetime gifts totaling $50,000 or more. Named to honor the unwavering faith of the college's founders, the society celebrates the historic and ongoing gifts of men and women who continue to believe so deeply in the mission of our institution.

The Ella Post Legacy Society
In 1982, Ella Post, a Milwaukee-area Lutheran led by faith in her God and the conviction that the world needed Wisconsin Lutheran College, was prompted to place the ultimate confidence in the college. The college received a substantial portion of Ella's estate in 1984, so the mission to spread the good news of the gospel could be continued at Wisconsin Lutheran College well after the Lord called her to her eternal home.

The purpose of the Ella Post Legacy Society is to honor and recognize those friends and alumni who have included a legacy gift in their estate plans to benefit the college. These dedicated individuals are a reflection of Ella Post's early commitment to supporting the growth and development of Wisconsin Lutheran College. In doing so, these people recognize the college's unique role in fulfilling our Savior's divine commission to make disciples of all nations.

Membership is extended to alumni, parents and friends who notify the college of their intention to benefit Wisconsin Lutheran College in their estate plan. Gift arrangements which qualify include:

  • Wills
  • Charitable trusts
  • Gifts of life insurance
  • Gift annuities
  • Retained life estates
  • Retirement plan beneficiary designations
  • Endowed funds

As a thank you, members of the Ella Post Legacy Society receive the following benefits:

  • Recognition on a campus display
  • Recognition in the WLC Annual Report
  • Invitation to a special donor recognition annual event
  • Annual WLC wall calendar
